BIENVENIDA A LOS EURODIPUTADOS
On behalf of all the members present of Veins de Parcent and all those unable to attend due to work commitments we are delighted to welcome to Parcent the delegation from the Petitions Committee of the European Parliament. We would like to thank President Mr Marcin Libicki, Vice President Mr Michael Cashman and David Lowe, Head of the Secretariat for honouring their promise to visit Parcent, proposed during the debate of our petition in the Petition's Committee in Brussels in November last year.
En nombre de todos los presentes de Veïns de Parcent y de aquellos que hoy no han podido venir por sus obligaciones laborales, estamos encantados de recibir en Parcent a la delegación de la Comisión de Peticiones del Parlamento Europeo. Queremos dar las gracias al Presidente de la Comisión, Señor Marcin Libicki, a su vicepresidente, Señor Michael Cashman, y al Señor David Lowe, Jefe de Secretariado, por cumplir con su promesa de visitar Parcent, tal y como se propuso y decidió durante el debate de nuestra petición en Bruselas, en noviembre del año pasado.
In the year since Parcent Town Hall approved the three PAI threatening our village we have won the backing of the courts, the Sindic de Greuges, and the Defensor de Pueblo. Now we appeal to the Petitions Committee to continue their fine work in defending the rights of all European citizens, to uphold European laws that protect our rights, and to actively pursue authorities that break those laws to the detriment of their citizens. This is more relevant than ever in Parcent where our Town Hall continues to impede our democratic rights to freedom of information, freedom of speech, and of association. As citizens of the European Community we are grateful that the European Union is able to act as a safeguard against such abuses of power.
Hace un año, el Ayuntamiento de Parcent aprobó tres desastrosos PAI y decidió multiplicar por 10 la población, según su insostenible concierto previo. Desde entonces, hemos conseguido el apoyo de la Síndica de Greuges, del Defensor del Pueblo y la suspensión cautelar del TSJ. Fue atendida, también, nuestra queja por la trasgresión de las leyes europeas, motivo de su visita. Pero ahora denunciamos que nuestra realidad es aún peor, pues nuestro Ayuntamiento ha agravado la situación violando derechos democráticos fundamentales como el de libertad de expresión, libertad de asociación, así como el derecho a un recurso efectivo tanto a nivel nacional como europeo.
Hoy, por tanto, agradecemos y pedimos a la Comisión de Peticiones que continúen con el buen trabajo que están haciendo defendiendo los derechos de todos los europeos, no permitiendo que se vulneren las leyes europeas que nos amparan y persiguiendo vigorosamente a las autoridades que las incumplen en perjuicio de sus ciudadanos.
