Veïns de Parcent - Newsletter Nº 49 - 28th March 2007

Dear friends,

Documentary - To be shown in the Club de Convivencia at 8 p.m. on Friday, 30th March.
I now have a few more details - it is called GREEN PARADISE, La California Europea, and was created by Pablo R Martos and Pau Soler. It is in Castillian with some interviews in English (with Spanish sub-titles). We will also show two short clips of recent television news broadcasts. We hope you will come along to watch these videos with us.

Demonstration in Valencia – Saturday 21st April.
We have met with other protest associations in the Marina Alta and will all be going to take part in the demo together - several coach-loads of us. We hope that Veïns supporters will be able to go free on the coach, covering the cost by sales of Tee-shirts and !!NEW!! umbrellas.

Umbrellas
Joan Carles has suggested that we have our emblematic umbrellas printed with the "Soc de Poble" slogan. These are good quality, full-size umbrellas available at 10 euros each, and come in a choice of colours. Please let me know by next Monday at the latest how many you would like to order and your preferred colour(s).

T-shirts
These are still available in most sizes at 10 euros from Jacqui at c/ Curtet 4 (tel 96 640 3868). There are now also a few sleeveless vest-type tops available in small and medium sizes, for summer wear.

Elections – Display of the Electoral Roll
Because Monday 9th April is a holiday in the Valencian region, the Electoral Roll will now be on display in the Ayuntamiento from Tuesday 10th to Monday 16th April and EVERYBODY must check that they are included on it. I am trying to find a way, if you will not be in Parcent at that time, for someone to make a claim on your behalf if we find you are not included, or your details are wrong. Please let me know if you will be away that week so that we can make the necessary arrangements.

Sewage disposal
I put an official complaint in to the town hall on Thursday last week and, for once, it is being treated seriously, and the number of tips and amount of tipping around Parcent is considered unacceptable and probably illegal. The police woman is investigating the sites we have pin-pointed. I shall keep asking about it and hope that, at the very least, we can get this practice stopped. If they can't properly dispose of this much material now, what will happen when there are hundreds more houses filling the sewage plant?

Our website is being fully up-dated and now includes a Valenciano page, as well as English and Spanish. Do you have a good photo that you would like to be "Photo of the Week"? If it is in digital format, please send to veinsdeparcent@hotmail.com. If it is a printed photo and you don't have a scanner, please give/send it to me to scan for you. Also, please send any other information of interest to all Veïns or photos of events for inclusion on the website to the same email address. Accounts
I have now taken over keeping the accounts for Veïns, as Estella is working in Barcelona and only at home occasionally. I will be able to give you a detailed breakdown of our funds in the next newsletter - I can tell you now that the costs for the lawyers are fully covered. Thanks to everyone who has so generously donated to our fighting fund and supported our fund-raising initiatives. Together we will achieve what we want: our Parcent free of speculation and free to develop sustainably!
