Veïns de Parcent - Newsletter Nº 51 - 12th April 2007
Dear friends,
A quick note on some important news - full details later:
- Council Meeting tonight at 8 p.m. in the town hall - please come!
- The Presentation of the CDP's Candidates will now take place on Tuesday, 17th April - further details when confirmed.
- The High Court in Valencia has thrown out the court case brought by the CDP against the council meeting held
on 30th January 2006, because the decisions taken were only provisional. This does not affect our fight very much - we
shall, of course, be appealing. Our lawyer will be advising us on any further action that can be taken and it does not
alter the fact that such developments are totally unsustainable. It is not clear yet how this affects the stop on work
being done in El Replá, nor on whether the Conselleria will start to process plans again. So far we haven't heard what
is happening with the similar case brought by the El Replá Association. The fight continues! And, don't forget, by our
action we have bought 7 months stay of execution and put a very large spanner in the works with regard to development
plans throughout the Valencian region.
- The Petitions Committee gave their final report to the European Parliament yesterday on their visit to Spain
which, I understand, is very critical, but I do not have full details yet.
I will fill you in with more details in a day or two, when I have the full picture.
All the best,
Jenny
