Veïns de Parcent - Newsletter Nº 62 – 30th June 2007

Dear friends,

A few quick notes before I go off to France and UK - back in September but if anything important occurs I will be in touch with Jacqui and will let you know.

Council meeting on Monday, 2nd July at 8 p.m.

If you can attend this first meeting of the CDP-led council, there may well be some news about the state of things in the town hall since the CDP took over and councillors will be appointed to be responsible for various posts. Your councillors are working on the PAIs and General Plan problems, along with many others, but it may take time to clarify the situation, so please be patient. As soon as they have definite news, you will be informed.

VP Committee

Jacqui Cotterill, chairwoman, and Joan Carles Poquet, spokesperson, have both stood down as members of the Committee because of the clash of interest now that they are councillors. As so many of us are away at this time, the General Meeting to elect a new Committee will take place in September when we can convoke it correctly. Again, please be patient!

Town Hall information Service

The CDP wish to set up an information service for the residents and Jacqui hopes to set this up shortly, with the help of Peter Chalmers who has volunteered to do this for us all. It will mainly be by email but there will also be printed notices put up about events and other information of interest to us in various places. If you are on this email list, please let me know if you do not wish to be included on a list at the town hall. If I do not hear from you, I shall pass your email address on when this service is started.

The CDP also hope to get the Parcent website up-dated, again with info of interest to us all.

Several of you have volunteered to help with projects of benefit to the village, for which many thanks. Again, it will take time to find what needs doing and how we can best help.......but as soon as we can we will be in touch.

Work at the Town Hall

You may have noticed that the building next to the town hall has been demolished and will be re-built as a cultural centre. But some of the facilities will be communal with the town hall building, such as a lift, so the town hall will also be suffering building works. This will obviously cause a lot of mess and inconvenience, so other council work may suffer as a result. Do I have to say: please be patient again?

Have a very good summer, whatever you are doing and wherever you are.

All best wishes, Jenny
