Veďns de Parcent – Newsletter Nş 70 – 16th November 2007

Dear friends,

Current situation with the three PAIs
It has been a long while since our last Newsletter and there still is not a great deal to report. I am hoping that there will be a report on the first six months of the CDP being in power in the town hall at the beginning of December. I am sure you are aware that things have not been made easy for them due to the actions of the previous administration, as well as the slowness of action in the Generalitat Valenciana departments. The draft General Plan has been returned to the town hall, who have scrapped it. A request for the return of the three PAIs has also been submitted as they all lack important documents that are essential if they are to be approved (which of course we don't want to happen) - as far as I know, no response one way or the other has been forthcoming. Until they are back, the new General Plan cannot be started. So it is still a waiting game....!

Committee Meeting
The new Veďns de Parcent Committee met last night to discuss the situation - there is not a great deal we can do just now, but to show we are still alive and kicking, we are organising a Supper at the Casino Bar-Restaurant - details to be confirmed, but pencil in Friday, 14th December and I will let you have the full details shortly.

Articles for sale
Our T-shirts and umbrellas continue to sell well and we will shortly be adding sweat shirts to our stock, in sizes from S to XXL, to sell at 15 euros each. Colours red and grey. Our logo of the design on the front (not the words on the back) is being registered for a patent so that no one else can use it, and then we hope to be able to sell items more widely.

Jalón Valley HELP
The Jalón Valley HELP Shops are pleased to invite you to their Parcent Fashion Show and Christmas Fair, at the Parcent Co-operativa on Thursday, 22nd November, doors open 3.30pm. Fashion Show starts at 4pm. A fun afternoon of Seasonal Fashions and accessories modelled by the HELP Shop volunteers, great quality at bargain prices. There's a selection of stalls crammed full of Christmas gifts and goodies. With Tombola and Raffle prizes to be won you can be sure of having a great time as well as supporting a good cause and picking up some bargains. Come early, with your friends!

This year, we've asked the local medical centre for their wish list which we are working on now, some more aircon/heaters, new weighing scales, etc. and we donated a nearly new wheelchair when someone had a fall outside and found out they didn't possess one in the surgery!

If you could donate some items for the Raffle or Tombola, please contact Maureen at Benarossa Gardens no. 49 (tel: 96 648 2615) or leave them at either of the shops by next Wednesday. Thank you!

Flood damage
In the meantime, I hope that everyone has more or less recovered from the rain and floods - it just goes to show that all new building around this area should be very carefully planned if the next bad Gota Fria is not to cause even worse damage. I think you will all agree that the Town Hall have worked very hard to clear and repair roads, etc., and let's hope the money promised for damage to property will be forthcoming in due course.

Best wishes,

Jenny
